Run, Run, Running

One of my goals this year is to run a 5k every month (every month were there are actual races available). I completed the red flannel run in February and now I am officially signed up for races through April. I currently have openings in May and June but have two possibly picked out for those months, I just signed up for another in July, and I hear there is one in August that a bunch of my family will be at.

Anyone want to run with me? I have signed up for the Gene Van Wyk Memorial run in Pella on 3/30/13 (I figured it was a good excuse to go home for Easter). And the Aids run/walk in Des Moines for 4/13/13.

I am thinking about doing the Klompen Classic, and Dam to Dam 5k in May and June, anyone interested? Let me know!

And another one bites the dust

I was wearing a pair of dress pants that back in October fit, but just barely, and today they just looked a bit odd. All baggy in the legs and saggy in the butt. Not that I have an amazing butt or anything but usually in well fitting pants. my butt looks pretty good. Today it was lackluster. So I have decided to retire them to the goodwill pile. Luckily for me Younkers is having a goodwill sale right now, and I have a whole bag of clothes and shoes that no longer fit and need new homes. So is anyone going to need a Younkers Coupon? I imagine I will be in the possession of several by the weekend. Another weird side effect of losing weight? None of my shoes fit anymore. I used to love to wear ballet flats to work, they were simple to slip on, and never uncomfortable, now I walk right out of them. Like all of them. That was at least half of my shoes. I didn't think my feet were fat until I started to lose weight. Turns out I am between a size 8 and 8 1/2, but  had been routinely buying 9's or 9 1/2's since high school. I am down to like 3 pairs of dress shoes which are all heels, which luckily due to weight loss are now comfortable to wear all day long.

Today I also had my bio-metric screening. My news wasn't great, but because of WW i already knew my stats and that I need to lose weight. Most of my other results were right in the normal range, however my good cholesterol is lower than they like and my blood pressure was just slightly higher than they would like. Hopefully next year when I get it completed again I will be in the normal ranges for everything.

Picture Updates

Me on my California vacation (11/2012)

Palm Springs again (11/2012)

Des Moines 3/8/13
Emily and I with Sue (3/8/13)
I tried to pick pictures where I was doing roughly the same pose and you had about the same amount of body in them. There is just a little less than 40 pounds difference between the November 2012 and March 2013 shots. For clothes comparisons the pants are 4 sizes different the the t-shirt is down a size.

In another type of victory that I am equally proud of Here is a comparison picture of my jeans pre weight loss to now. The bottom are the pair I was wearing in my California pictures the top are the exact same style that I bought this weekend, they are.... wait for it.... 5 sizes smaller than the bottom pair! The bottom pair are my lone pair of large pants. I plan for them to be my picture pants, you know the ones you use to show how much you've lost.

200 sticks of Butter

I did it! Hit it right on the nose even. As of 3/7/13 I lost 50 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!

It was all so exciting and then I had to go back to work.

I am working on getting some before and after pictures up so everyone can be amazed at my progress. So keep checking back.

Leave some love!

Red Flannel Run / Best sister in the world

Way back in December I casually mentioned to my sister we should run a 5k together. The first one in the area was the Red Flannel Run- an outdoor run scheduled for the middle of February  In Iowa that could mean any type of weather. She is the best because like an hour later she had already registered and that pushed me to get on it and sign up too. We had a blast. She started with me and than continued her run without me (we had agreed beforehand she didn't need to pace with me) She meet up with me again with about 1/2 mile to go and ran with me until the finish line, which was awesome because of her I didn't stop and walk and I was able to finish with someone.

Self Portraits are hard

I never know where to look when I take a shot of myself on my phone or camera. When I somehow end up actually looking in the right place I think my eyes look weird/crazy. I don't want to the that weird girl with all the crazy shots of herself but come on I needed and updated photo! For anyone interested the lip color is Lust by Tarte, and the eye shadow Roach is by Urban Decay, the beauty is God given!

192.8 Sticks of Butter

Since starting my weight loss journey in October I've lost (and by lost I mean said goodbye and never plan on finding again) 192.8 sticks of butter. For people who don't naturally picture losses in sticks of butter like me that is 48.2 pounds. I am pretty sure that might be my Johnson nephew's put together. Can you imagine losing a Charley and Drew?

I feel a lot better, the difference is pretty evident to people who haven't seen me in a while, and people who didn't even know I was trying to loss weight have noticed.

One of the perks and drawbacks are my clothes. I have lost 4 sizes in my pants. Which means everything that I used to wear last fall looks pretty sad now. Because I am apparently a border line hoarder I had some smaller sizes still in my closet but I am down to 2 pairs of jeans (which were new purchases) I'm willing to wear outside my place. And work clothes are tricky because most of my pants don't have belt loops, it will become necessary to hold my pants up soon. Last month I traveled to Oskaloosa and my lovely Mother tailored a giant pile of my clothes. Where I was able to squeeze another week or two out of them it soon became evident I was fighting a losing battle with sag, and all of those pants save one pair were donated to goodwill last week. At this point I am praying for warm weather, I have dresses and skirts in my closet that I am hopeful will be able to get me through spring with the right placement of a belt or cardigan.

I have a biometric screening scheduled for March 11th. My goal is to have crossed the 50 pound loss mark by then. I know they are going to tell me I need to lose weight, but at least I will be able to tell them that I am 50 pounds in better shape than 6 months ago.

I am so behind posting pictures. In November I went on an amazing trip to visit my aunt and uncle in California. I had the best time possible. I need to try to take some newer pictures of me because since this trip I've lost 40 more pounds. But this picture will be great for before and after comparisons.
