Because I have been remiss

I know it isn't Friday. But this movie deserves to be shared. It freaked me out. For reals. And I like horror movies. There is definitely something wrong with Ester. Even knowing the twist in advance, I mean how can I resist checking wikipedia?, I was delightfully freaked out and squirmed plenty. Check out what is wrong with Ester. Will definitely get you in the Holiday Mood!

Best Movie Music...EVER

I have seen the trailer for the new movie 9.... oh about a million times. Awesomely enough it is played before every good movie I have watched in the theatres this year- as well as several hits on youtube.com Sometimes the trailer changes a bit- but one awesome thing stays the same every single time- the music: Coheed and Cambria's Welcome Home. This alone will get me into the theatre to see this movie. I love it! LOVE. IT. Anyone else excited?

Please Stop.... Please

To level with everyone here: I am a huge fan of the book Pride and Prejudice. (Huge. Fan.) I have multiple copies of the original text. I have several copies of the
A&E mini-series and various other versions brought to screen. I love it. Ironically it isn't my favorite work of Jane Austen- but it was the first one I discovered and therefore the one I have the most, for lack of a better word, stuff for. I cannot even begin to tell you how many follow ups, or continuations I have read for P&P it is definitely in the double digits. Some I love, some I hate, some I just read. But all I can say now is: Please, people, please stop.... please

Why oh why must Mr. Darcy, Vampyre exist? Amanda Grange has been knocked down several million steps in my estimation: I have read several of her books- she usually writes a Diary for each of the male hero's of Miss Austen. And I enjoyed them, didn't OMG love them, but enjoyed them for sure. But it seems that everyone, everyone has to jump on the freaking Vampire bandwagon. I am done with it. Yes I read all of the twilight saga, yes I read (well started- because Kelsey still has my copy) Pride and Prejudice and Zoombies, Yes I read a book were Darcy and Elizabeth are detectives. But no more people, no more. Why can't Mr. Darcy just be Mr. Darcy?????

Oh and really what is with all the freaking Vampires???? Are literally agents just jumping on any book that involves them?

Chi-town take 2

Still in Chi-town. Fun day today. Mostly Nancy and I were super lazy and slept in! YAY! We headed out to my interview with company #2. Very similar vibe to yesterday. I feel that the positions are essentially the same thing for different companies. Challenging and tons of growth opportunity. Tonight Nancy and I are all about having fun. We found this premium movie theatre were the serve you food and drink throughout. Which sounds pretty freaking sweet to us. Needless to say we are pumped. We are headed out now. Send me positive thoughts tomorrow (please) All day interview/job shadow back at company #1. After that Nancy and I will be driving back to Iowa.

Film Friday

This weeks pick: Last Chance Harvey

Confession: When I watch movies with awkward situations- I get completely uncomfortable, like get up and leave the room uncomfortable, like hide in the couch cushions uncomfortable. I have no idea how I handle sitting through movies in the theatre (I could watch any horror movie ever made- yet give me an awkward social situation I freak). Really because at home- I am an active viewer. This movie surprised me with how much I got into it. I keep talking to the tv- going "no, no, don't do it, don't say that- ugh!" Maybe it is just because I have lived some of those uncomfortable broken family moments. I don't know- Really the whole movie isn't uncomfortable- I actually liked it quite a bit, but the actors did a really great job making it real, real enough for me to freak a little.

Free Willy

Ok, so lets me honest- anyone else think the world has gone just a "little" crazy over MJ's death? I particularly love how lots of people have forgotten his financial and legal troubles. But that is another post for another day. Lots of people have been sharing their first Michael Jackson memories: so here goes mine.
So in my house, we didn't get a lot of R&B or Urban music exposure. (Go figure, what, we us being the whitest people ever) Essentially if it wasn't on the oldies radio station or in a Disney movie, I didn't hear it. Sorry artists I did not independently discover you until I was at least 12- and even then I didn't listen to good music until high school. But the first time I do remember hearing Michael was at the end of the Free Willy movie. Remember that? First off Free Willy gave me a lot of conflicting information: 1) If you are a homeless street thug an awesome family will totally adopt you- and give you a new blue backpack. 2) Graffiti- actually a good thing, because if you do it, you will get to end up working with a killer whale. 3) If you work with a troubled Killer Whale (who lives in a too small tank) you (and the killer whale) will totally will become BFF's! 4) Crime pays- Graffiti (mentioned above), and stealing a Killer Whale, kids please don't worry about jail time- just Free Willy!
But yeah- it has been years and years and years, but I am pretty positive that Michael sings a song at the end of that movie. I want to say he is standing on a break between the beach and the ocean- and then a huge wave crashes over him. It moved me, like no song ever could to a third grader. This was an innocent time- yes Michael's appearance was probably already really weird, but he sang and Willy was free. It was years before I purposely listened to another Michael Jackson song. This week I was shocked to discover his vast catalog. Anyway- great artist yes, but he hasn't made any great music in a decade, so I will just continue to youtube your oldies.

You broke my HEART!

Question? What is your favorite "You/He/She broke my heart!" Moment of a movie or tv show?
Tons of people (including me) vividly can recall Adian from Sex and the City- standing on his steps screaming at Carrie "You broke my heart!"
Another favorite which I saw for the second time today- thank you free HBO weekend! Lena from The sisterhood of the traveling pants 2 (longest movie name ever) Crying: "He broke my heart, now it is broken, I don't ever want to feel that way again"
What is your favorite?

Why I would pay to see Tim Riggins do almost anything...

Oh! Oh! Taylor/Tim Riggins/Gambit
This is a long awaited readers request. Thank you Alyson for waiting this long for me to get to your request! Alyson (who is awesome, and a brand new graduate- Congrats!) wants to know what I think about TV actors in big budget movies.

Steve Carrell has made a pretty smooth transition, at least in my opinion- he worked steadily on TV; The Daily Show, The Office, all while slowing building his film career, starting with supporting roles in movies like Anchorman, and Bruce Almighty. Steve really hit it big with 40 Year Old Virgin- but he has chosen not to abandon TV, rather he used his popularity to bring a larger audience to The Office. And granted he has made some bombs since 40 Year Old Virgin (Evan Almighty anyone?) At the point Steve is making a money and funny doing both TV and Movies and I would like to see him keep at it. Plus I have hopes he will do better than Evan from now on.

Rainn Wilson is also a good example- while he is mostly a TV actor, he has some several supporting roles and films and even a lead or two- I haven't fallen in love with any of his film work- other than the two scene appearance in Juno (which was beyond amazing) and I didn't hate The Rocker (mostly liked the music).

Now I know what you are thinking- Lynne get to the Hotties! Yes- exactly where we are going.

The Hotties:

John Krasinski- I really hope you are reading this because I think I speak for everyone when I say: I love you, you are adorable and funny, and every girls dream- and I know we all forget which part is you and which is Jim (which has to annoy you a little). But please PLEASE- stop making shitty movies. I cannot handle watching another really really crappy movie just because you, cutie that you are, are in it. I am ashamed to admit I own, no I wasn't smart enough to just rent, but I OWN- License to Wed. Now John- this should have been a good movie, Robin Williams is in general- acknowledged to be a funny guy, you are a cutie, and Mandy Moore has on occasion made a movie that I didn't hate, but instead it was a train wreck. I am not even going to go near Leatherheads- but please John- don't jump at the next crappy movie that puts you as a lead- think about it, make sure it really is worth it.

Patrick Dempsy- Please refer to the above- I cannot watch another crappy movie for you either- i.e. Made of Honor. (But we must remember in the 80's and 90's Patrick was actually a movie star, and TV was his comeback vehicle- not that I am complaining, I actually love Can't Buy Me Love, and McDreamy has made my last couple of years!)

Taylor Kitsch- Now Talyor is where I get a little defensive- unlike my love of John and Patrick, where I am willing to admit their faults, Taylor and I are not quite on that level yet. He still instantly makes movies better for me- The Convent, Wolverine. I find no wrong in him doing any and every movie that comes his way. Plus now that he has graduated from Dillion High- I might have to get used to paying to see movies with him in it, instead of enjoying him for free on TV every week!

So what do you think? Should TV and Movie actors mix? Bad idea? Good idea? Great idea?

Why May will Rock my Wooden Shoes Off...

May is going to be pretty freaking exciting! This will be a multi part post- on why I personally LOVE LOVE the month of May!
Part 1-
Movies: We really cannot surpass the awesomeness of Movies that will be arriving into theatres this May. Case in Point:
Wolverine; Status- Already seen! I give it 4 and a half stars out of 5.
Reasons for deduction- the super fake looking claws. Maybe it was just me but those non shiny claws just didn't do it for me. This is mostly made up for by the hot, hotty: Taylor Kitsch! Gambit, where have you been all my life? I am even willing to overlook his ridiculous purple silk shirt in his introduction scene- I will admit, it made me nervous to have a man's man like my own Tim Riggins (FNL!) in that crazy shirt, but I love you anyway!
Star Trek; Status- Countdown 2 days! Again with the hotties! Chris Pine - I cannot wait to meet you! Apparently it already has a 100% fresh rating on rotten tomatoes!
Week of May 15th- Open to options (nothing scheduled to rock my world currently)
Terminator Salvation; Status- Beyond Excited for May 21! Confession: Every time I see a commercial, every. single. time. I geek out!
You can read about my previously posted love of these new movies here
p.s. what is the deal with movies opening on Thursday nights?????

Reader Request...

This is for Alyson... (she rocks!)

Alyson recently asked me what I thought about the change in looks of movie star Patrick Swayze. Earlier this year Mr. Swayze announced he was suffering from pancreatic cancer, still fighting it, and hoping to continue to work on his new show: The Beast (on A&E). The media has reported a few times his unhealthy appearance and he has been in and out of hospitals all year. For many of us Patrick Swayze's heyday was Dirty Dancing- oh all those shirtless scenes, or even Ghost. So I think it is fair to say that he isn't going to look so smoking hot, 20 years later, regardless of health. As Alyson said he is 56- so you know not a complete loss in Hollywood standards yet. But I think his health has taken a definite toll. I can say I liked him in Dirty Dancing, but really haven't seen him in anything since- so yeah I like him dancing it up but never thought he was that good looking in anything else. Any thoughts? Some die hard fans our there?

Baby Blues

Just right now Chris Pine can do no wrong- He has single handily convinced me to go see the new Star Trek movie. So gorgeous- I can care less about the plot (which is probably making my brother-in-law cringe a bit, he is and always has been a huge fan) but I will go, and no doubt enjoy based on this guys baby blues! Another movie I am COMPLETELY excited to see- (can you tell by my use of online yelling?) Terminator Salvation! My love for Terminator, is in all ways, opposite of my fascination with Star Trek, I love Terminator (the whole franchise). I have deeply steeped myself in all the mythology and background. Seen every movie, multiple times, watched the TV show, etc. And I will pay close, close attention to details of the plot. I cannot get enough. May is pretty much going to rock my world!

Freakin Fridays

Today hasn't quite gone my way. I woke up with my throat on fire- and unfortunately it has suck with me all day. I heard some movie critic say The Hannah Montana movie was the best he had seen of 2009- which makes me want to like move to England- or somewhere they don't care about stupid young pop stars that make bad role models to girls (which to be fair probably isn't England). I am also watching FNL- and I am more than a little heart broken they lost state- only in the last 6 seconds too. Still - Tim Riggins and I might run away together! Another plus- I am getting dangerously close to finishing my Christmas Stocking. My dishes have managed to be cleaned regularly for almost two weeks straight now. And hopefully tomorrow I will wake up tomorrow a O.K.

My imagination better than your reality...

I truly truly truly believe that my imagination is way better than any "reality" a movie company can come up with. Case in point : Twilight. (Don't make fun of me the Twilight series is sweeping the world). The books I read quickly and got excited when I found out they were making a movie, even went to see this movie opening weekend. (Yes I helped it go #1) But the movie- lets be serious here- very campy. Don't get me wrong I loved the eye candy Robert Patterson provided just as much as the next girl but, nobody can pull off a vampire snarl, except for maybe an actual vampire (which you know it not going to happen). Also everyone made a huge deal about how the music was going to be so amazing because several of the musicians on the soundtrack were huge fans and wrote the songs especially for the movie. But me, when I read it associated completely different music. (Specifically - Placebo: Meds- pretty much the whole album but especially inferred, running up that hill, and drag) So the movie was a let down, I mean other than the obvious problems that every book adaptation have (cutting out portions of the plot to make the movie bearable time wise), it just didn't live up to all the hype for me. Everyone is going crazy about it again because of the DVD release (often DVD makes things better for me- I am a sucker for special features and commentary tracks). Did anyone spring for the DVD? Is it worth it? So movie companies if you insist on continuing to adapt books into movies (which - yeah you do) you had better put some killer special features on that DVD or you have lost my purchase!

This I love- and you should too!

Ok I love movies, I love music, I love any combination thereof. Behold : Once. I stumbled upon
this little gem of a movie about a year and half ago. It completely rocks my world! Everyone needs to see this movie and here is why.
1) It is a musical without being annoying. ( It isn't over processed - no big dance numbers. It is all about the music)
2) Set in Dublin, Ireland we get to enjoy yummy accents!
3) Most of the movie was shot on the cheap (The director actually intended for it to be shot on a micro budget) Many of the shots were done illegally without permits.
4) THE MUSIC- probably don't need to say more but- really really awesome music. I have been listening to the soundtrack on my ipod all day.
5) The Music (again) Nominated and Won an Oscar in 2008 for Best original song (Falling slowly).
6) The Oscars (back when the actually let Oscar nominated songs be performed in their entirety Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova rocked the house with their performance) They managed to beat out a song from the movie August Rush and I think three (maybe only two) from Enchanted.
7) The Oscar speech, when Marketa was mistakenly cut off before she could make her acceptance speech Jon Stewart brought her back out and she gave a touching speech about always following your dreams.
8)The two stars Hansard and Irglova are actually musicians not actors (so the music is really really good as mentioned above! and the acting is not half bad either!)
9) During the press tour for the movie Hansard and Irglova fell in love and are still a couple. Who needs Brangelina? or Any other celebrity couple for that matter these two have it all! Plus their kids would be so freaking musically talented it would rock the world.
There are so many more reasons to watch and love this movie- so get to it!

This week has been a busy and productive one. I finally got to my last straw with the bank by tuesday. Wednesday I was closing accounts and opening new ones elsewhere. I cannot believe all the customer service issues I have experienced with them in the last 14 days!
PBS has been rerunning the Anne of Green Gables series every Sunday lately. I so enjoy the movies- Gilbert is adorable! It inspired me to try reading A of GG again. I bought the book last year and never fully devoted any time to getting through it. I am almost done and enjoying all the scrapes Anne is getting in. What a classic! I almost watched Little Women on tv this morning but i knew it would make me want to read that book and I have got my hands full at the moment.
Speaking of TV- I am currently enjoying a what not to wear hour- I always enjoy watching everyones transformations and think that Clinton Kelly would absolutely make an amazing boyfriend. Not only is he cute- but he dresses great, likes to shop, and bonus knows what would look amazing on you! What is not to like?
I need to get a little more dedicated to the gym and 5k training again.... I have been lazy the last week and a half but the Iowa Games 5k is coming up and I need to be in top form! I think I am going to dive deep today and order my new Ipod- my workouts have been suffering without the beat!
